Botanical Name: Apuleia mollaris
Other Names: Muira-Juba, Ferro
Source location: South America FSC Certified
Stability: Durable
Density: Approximately 900kg/m3
Appearance: Garapa is a light yellow to honey-brown colour and its interlocked grain has a fi ne texture.
Sustainability: Garapa carries independent FSC 100% certification and it is sourced from legal and well-managed resources.
Finishes: Garapa is a very dense hardwood and thus does not suit most timber finishes. Our experience has shown that the finishes do not penetrate into the hardwood thus resulting in poor adhesion and a tendency to ‘sheet’ off within a few months. Our recommendation is to leave the timber unfinished allowing it to age naturally.
Leaching: The timber is lustrous and does not bleed
